Ken claims he is member of the “press”

Here is the most recent post from Ken Ward on his blog, where his inflated ego shines through the “power of the blog.”

The most humorous part of the post is how Ken actually still considers himself “press” as if he were an independent journalist who didn’t just reprint information from the enviros and their attorneys.

It is called “bias”   Environmentalism trumps journalism every day for Ken.

Regarding Rush’s point though, at least there won’t be any Ken / Clem clones emitting carbon.

Attacks on the press: I don’t have it so bad …

by Ken Ward Jr.

rush.jpg

Maybe the coal guys just haven’t thought of this one yet … But radio personality Rush Limbaugh’s attack this week on New York Times climate change reporter Andrew Revkin made me think I don’t have it so bad.

I was only called a liar. Limbaugh told Revkin he ought to kill himself.

Media Matters for America has an account of the situation here,  as does Curtis Brainard of Columbia Journalism Review, here.

revkin.jpgBasically, as I understand it, Andy Revkin dared to raise some interesting “Thought Experiments” about global climate change and population growth on his must-read blog, Dot Earth, in a post called Are Condoms the Ultimate Green Technology? Here’s part of what he wrote:

More children equal more carbon dioxide emissions. And recent research has resulted in  renewed coverage of the notion that one of the cheapest ways to curb emissions in coming decades would be to provide access to birth control for tens of millions of women around the world who say they desire it.

I recently raised the question of whether this means we’ll soon see a market in baby-avoidance carbon credits similar to efforts to sell  CO2 credits for avoiding deforestation. This is purely a thought experiment, not a proposal. But the issue is one that is rarely discussed in climate treaty talks or in debates over United States climate legislation. If anything, the population-climate question is more pressing in the United States than in developing countries, given the high per-capita carbon dioxide emissions here and the  rate of population growth. If giving women a way to limit family size is such a cheap win for emissions, why isn’t it in the mix?

That prompted this from Limbaugh:

I think these militant environmentalists, these wackos, have so much in common with the jihad guys. Let me explain this. What do the jihad guys do? The jihad guys go to families under their control and they convince these families to strap explosives on who? Not them. On their kids. Grab your 3-year-old, grab your 4-year-old, grab your 6-year-old, and we’re gonna strap explosives on there, and then we’re going to send you on a bus, or we’re going to send you to a shopping center, and we’re gonna tell you when to pull the trigger, and you’re gonna blow up, and you’re gonna blow up everybody around you, and you’re gonna head up to wherever you’re going, 73 virgins are gonna be there. The little 3- or 4-year-old doesn’t have the presence of mind, so what about you? If it’s so great up there, why don’t you go? Why don’t you strap explosives on you — and their parents don’t have the guts to tell the jihad guys, “You do it! Why do you want my kid to go blow himself up?” The jihad guys will just shoot ‘em, ‘cause the jihad guys have to maintain control.

The environmentalist wackos are the same way. This guy from The New York Times, if he really thinks that humanity is destroying the planet, humanity is destroying the climate, that human beings in their natural existence are going to cause the extinction of life on Earth — Andrew Revkin. Mr. Revkin, why don’t you just go kill yourself and help the planet by dying?

Over at Climate Progress, Joe Romm — who very frequently criticizes Revkin’s reporting in the Times and on Dot Earth (See this post, for example) –  had some interesting thoughts on Revkin’s population post and had this to say about Limbaugh’s outburst:

Limbaugh’s remarks are far beyond the pale even for his brand of extremism.   Urging another human being to commit suicide is grotesque.

Well I tried again to leave Ken a comment on his blog & got the message that it had been flagged by the spam filter & that the administrator would review the comment & restore it later. So far none of my messages have been posted, although I don’t have any trouble posting to other newspaper stories.

So Ken, if you’re reading this — (I’m sure you are) – here’s what I wrote & tried to submit to your blog:

It’s interesting that you left off your comments with Rush’s quote & then threw in the Joe Romm barb of Rush’s comments being “beyond the pale” even for an extremist as Rush.

Why didn’t you go on with what Rush was harping on & that was that liberal greenies blame man for all the earth’s woes (especially capitalist humans, Western Culture man) & that green liberals want everyone else to to bite the bullet & sacrifice.

“Why do you want every one of us except you and your buddies on the left? See, liberals always come up with these laws, these plans, these solutions, and they’re always for everybody else. You go and limit the number of kids you have. You go drive a Yugo. You go get rid of your big house. You go turn your thermostat up or down, you go do this, you go do that. ”

And then Rush says, why doesn’t Obama park Air Force One, or serve ground chuck in steak of Kobe beef at his parties or have karoke instead of live entertainment. I would add wear a jacket instead of going around in shirtsleeves & turning up the heat.

After Rush finishes with that segment he says — “If I may get serious with you for a moment, the left, if you believe them, believes that there’s one species on the planet destroying it.” And he goes on with what the greenie lefts wants everyone else to do.

Didn’t you get it? He was making a funny….hey, if man’s destroying the earth & you’re serious about doing something about, then YOU jump off the cliff first.

Rush’s full comments can be read here:

The mere fact that Ken has mentioned the poster photo in his blog gives some insight that maybe, just maybe, it got under his skin.
Keep throwing down the heat. Like Obama, I don’t think he can take it and is lashing out in a very similar method.

Well I tried a short comment to Ken on his blog site complaining about the trouble I was having while trying to post & asking if anyone had taken the time to read Rush’s full transcript of his comments in context….& SURPRISE – it went thru. Unfortunately, when I tried to submit my comment that was blocked yesterday, I got this message:

“Sorry, but your comment has been flagged by the spam filter running on this blog: this might be an error, in which case all apologies. Your comment will be presented to the blog admin who will be able to restore it immediately.
You may want to contact the blog admin via e-mail to notify him.”

Sorry Ken – but I’m signed into the Gazette’s site & have no problem posting elsewhere. I believe the problem lies in the settings of your “dashboard”.

“Thanks for reading Coal Tattoo and taking the time to comment…however, I’ve deleted several of your comments — as well as those by R. King, because they’re just inappropriate.

This isn’t a place for yelling at each other and calling names. It’s for intelligent and thoughtful discussion. I’ve currently blocked you from adding additional comments.

If you’d like to discuss what is and isn’t appropriate to post, call me and Monday and we can do so. Ken.”

LIE #1

“It’s for intelligent and thoughtful discussion”

1 Fish, 3 Salamanders, and 2 bugs over thousands of mining jobs doesn’t equal thoughtful.

After having Ken release a couple of comments, I’m back to the spam filter error. Guess I’ll just have to post here & hope Mr. Ward sees my comments.

Mr. Ward – I do believe there are extremists behind most of the WV protests that have taken place over the last couple of years and there’s nothing wrong with using that term when it fits. One has only to google “treespiker” and you’ll get hits with what is probably the advisor, instructor and leader of these young kids who are being trained and may become the next elfers, Earth firsters or greenpeacers and are currently going to jail & detroying their reputation for their hero. While you frequently advise the readers of certain posters’ backgrounds and current positions – I have not seen you “report” anything on Mike Roselle. While you frequently mention the on-going protests, I don’t see much in updates, especially when some lawbreakers lose in court. (Example – Mat Rosenberg & Glen Collins who participated in a lockdown of coal trucks on Kayford Mountain and chose jury trials were recently found guilty. While the story was covered by the Beckley newspaper & numerous online sites, I never saw anything on this site about the Raleigh county capias warrant for Roselle. You treat most everyone with respect & tolerance, which I appreciate but as the “extremist” remarks indicate – you have your moments.

Perhaps you are unaware of remarks and intimidation on other forums. I have avoided this forum because I’ve been told by certain anti-MTR folks that they are searching & plan to “expose” me (whatever that means), but life’s too short to live in fear & I don’t like being bullied.

You’ve taken offense at a poster seen at a recent hearing that had your picture and was labeled “liar”. When I read your remark about the paper having “big shoulders”, my first thought was “why don’t you shrug and get over it. I don’t think you lie, but you do put your own slant on things as seen through your environmental prism & you often leave out what doesn’t fit your agenda. That’s your personal right, but I take offense at a newspaper reporter who should be reporting all the facts of who, what, when, where & how, then using the newspaper site as a tool to show all the negatives of a certain industry without also reporting the positive. Perhaps I’ve not read your blog long enough and I missed the “positives”.

You are pretty heavy-handed on the comment button – frequently not turning it on all or shutting down discussions when things get interesting. I’m so glad that you pointed out the mirror image site of Gazette Tattoo – at least I have some place to park my remarks and with time more people may wander over to see what’s censored here.

You probably won’t allow this message to go through. You say that mine are still being caught by the spam checker & you’re releasing them & to report any more errors, but I don’t I‘m still having an error. My new message tells me my comment is awaiting approval by the moderator. I don’t mind being monitored if everyone else is treated the same. After all, if you pre-screened all comments, the one with the “extremist” accusation couldn’t have gotten through and you wouldn’t have been able to highlight & chastise that particular remark.

Disappearing posts. Mr. Ward responded to my blocked comments as follows:

“For whatever it’s worth, your latest comment came in and was initially blocked by our spam blocker, but I released it.”

Well, my released comment has disappeared along with the link Mr. Ward requested that I provide concerning comments made by Rush Limbaugh. I guess I’m blocked from participating in that forum. Perhaps I’ve irritated Mr. Ward by continuing to complain & NOT contacting him by email to discuss the situation.

Sorry Mr. Ward, but I too believe sunshine is the best anticeptic & I have no wish to initiate emails to explain something I’ve already aired in public with all the information I know about the problem. I do assume you and the Charleston Gazette site have my email address since I provided it when I registered to use the site and it’s a problem on your end of the submissions, not mine.

More on disappearing posts:

I notice that censor Ward has been at it again. The comments on one of his recent blogs articles has fallen from 8 to 3.

On his “Tough break for Massey’s Don Blankenship”, someone named Don submitted a couple of remarks and others jumped in to help Ken. I really don’t see why Ken deleted Don’s remarks. But, I really don’t know why he blocks mine either.

I’ve read forum remarks where Joe Romm does the same thing on his forum. If you’re not in line with his opinion or perhaps provide too much contrary information, you’re not welcome.

Note:
(if you read Ken’s blog you see Joe Romm’s name often & he is second on Time magazine’s online list of environmental heroes)

BTW, I thought Ken’s cheap shot at Blankenship and highlighting Huffinton Post’s Most Dangerous Climate Change Deniers

Read more at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/22/most-dangerous-global-war_n_330614.html

was about as goofy and childish as they come. Is Huffinton Post a real news organization? This is a crazy world we’re living in. Another one of Ken’s blog submissions is “Obama: Climate ‘naysayers’ are ‘being marginalized’”

That’s true – along with any person, business, organization or country that does not agree with Obama. Marginalize it, ignore polls and go on with the agenda. That’s Rule 11 of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don Blankenship and Massey Energy is the environmentalist’s first target in the quest to eliminate fossil fuels.

BTW – here’s the censored remarks from the poster called Don removed by Ken Ward -

“Don { 10.23.09 at 11:44 pm } Global warming is in fact a lie and I have a quote on a state part that states that 7000 years ago that this area was several degrees warmer than todays present temperature. The lies are being told for money gains by certain groups and the other countries will never cut back so what ever we do will not have any impact on the earth, God is the only one that can do that. I feel like the trips we do to the moon, mars is hurting the environment more than they will ever tell us but, it is people wanting to continue their child hood dreams. By going to outer space is no benefit to us because we will never be able to live in outer space and if God wanted us there he would have put us there instead of the earth.

.6 Don { 10.23.09 at 11:57 pm } I meant state parks. What made the earth warmer 7000 years ago when there were no coal mines or cars on the road. It has been getting colder over the last few years and just wait and see, it will keep getting colder and colder and we will only make the United States be so far in debt trying to do the cap and tax that our children will no way be able to live in the future if we do this. It will be way to costly. Greed is killing this world and it will only get worse as time goes on because of greed.”

I don’t see anything wrong with remarks, do you?

Here’s his blog from google cache with the original remarks:

and his blog with the 3 remaining comments:
