Ken continues streak of lies in Sunday paper
Ken Ward loves the Sunday newspaper as much as OVEC loves Ken.
Sunday is the best day to lie apparently. And boy, did Ken lie and spin for the enviros this weekend.
Ken even went as far to say that it was a “major piece.” That is the first thing he has been right about in a while. We would say that it was not a major piece of journalism as much as a major piece of something else.
Ken’s first lie comes early in the “piece”
“The planet is heating up faster than scientists thought it would just a few years ago. Experts say greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced soon, before it’s too late.”
Apparently a decade long span of global cooling really means “heating up” in the bizarro world that Ken and his enviro-friends live.
Then Ken repeats (spins) more of the anti-American propoganda
“Meanwhile, scientific findings have shown things are getting worse.
This March, for example, a collection of scientists reported that many indicators of climate change — surface temperature, sea-level rise, ocean and ice sheet dynamics, ocean acidification, and extreme climatic events — were at or beyond the IPCC’s worst-case projections.”
Since the science Ken and his boyfriend Clem spin continues to get debunked on a daily basis, they have to claim that the crisis is worsening even faster than even thought. The end of the world is coming on Sunday, but if you don’t prepare for it then maybe it will end on Wednesday. I guess we will just have to find out.
And then Ken gets to talk about his new favorite topic: Senator Byrd supposedly on the fence on cap and trade legislation. Does anyone actually think an alert and healthy Senator Byrd would vote to destory thousands of mining jobs in the coal fields? Of course not, but his DC staff certainly would if they get the chance.
Here’s to hoping Ken will try to stick to the facts next Sunday and also that Senator Byrd will get healthy enough to fire his staff that keep putting out statements from the Senator that are obviously out of character for him.

Only a liberal would try to tell as many lies as possible on the Sabbath.
Once again I’ve run into the spam filter & awaiting moderator approval on Ken’s blog, so I’ll post my comments here.
On Ken’s blog under his article “USA Today on MTR: Time to protest forests, streams”
Kate Russell wrote:
“It’s a consensus across the nation–mountaintop removal coal mining is an atrocity and it must be stopped now.”
(and I replied & waiting approval)
and within the link provided:
“All four national newspapers are against it. USA Today, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Washington Post”
I continued:
and from –
http://www.registerguard.com/csp/cms/sites/web/business/22136198-41/story.csp
” National newspaper circulation continues decline |
The most recent figures show losses are accelerating;”…..
…….”Of the nation’s five biggest daily papers, four reported circulation declines.”
“USA Today’s circulation fell 17 percent to 1.9 million as the Gannett Co. paper.
The New York Times’ circulation fell 7.3 percent, to 927,851, making it the No. 3 paper. The Los Angeles Times was in fourth place with daily circulation of 657,467, down 11.1 percent from a year ago.
The Washington Post rounded out the top five with a loss of 6.4 percent, to 582,844.”
What a coincidence —that really shows how much in touch those papers are with their readers. Now we should really pay attention to what the op-ed writers are saying.

my next comment was caught by the spam filter:
Kate Russell’s link asks: “Where are the pro-mountaintop removal editorials?”
Just a few, since I’m just one person and I don’t have a legion of helpers and contacts to search for more.
Mountaintop Letdown
President Obama’s decision will enrage environmentalists, but it’s the right one.

EDITORIAL: Battle over coal points to future of our region
By The Knoxville News Sentinel, Tenn.
“The battle for the future of Appalachia is not merely between environmentalists on the one hand and coal mining communities on the other. It is a struggle that engulfs all in this region. We join that battle knowingly or unknowingly when we turn on a light switch, turn up the heat or air conditioning, plug in our computers, recharge cell phones or use myriad other appliances. Much of our electricity comes from coal-fired plants.
We also participate in this fight when we learn to conserve, to temper our use of electricity, understanding our need to breathe clean air and see a beautiful landscape.
We support the restrictions on mountaintop-removal mining, but we regard the efforts of both sides as sincere. We believe Congress and the Obama administration can find a reasonable policy that neither side will love but, for now, one with which both can live.”

FIghting for coal
Elected officials must protect state’s economic interests
Keep up the pressure. That may be the only way the Obama administration, particularly the Environmental Protection Agency, and certain members of Congress finally get the message that anti-coal policies simply won’t work for West Virginia and much of the nation.

Another day and another post to Ken’s blog caught up in the spam filter – which should be renamed the AUTOMATIC CENSOR – since it’s a good bet that your post isn’t going to appear although the message does read
“Your comment will be presented to the blog admin who will be able to restore it immediately.”
Sooooooo….I’ll just post my reply here in reference to Ken’s response to Brandon, commenting on Ken’s “PATH: Is it needed? Would it increase reliability?” Brandon complained the post was biased & Ken told him to stop trolling.
(tried to post to Ken’s blog — AGAIN)
How about giving a reader a break, just in case they missed your previous reporting. I’ve often read news items concerning on-going activities where the reporter gives a short update, but doesn’t “go back” and touch upon some of the previous information “printed” with the on-going details . You’re the expert here, so it would have been helpful or looked more balanced if you’d offered a couple of what the opposing experts said, rather than throwing up links for people to search. I looked at the links & there’s a lot of pdf reading to get a few sentences for the meat of the matter of what the pro-path experts presented.
I guess it’s good to be the king, where “you” can suggest someone is trolling, but berate or delete someone else, who in your opinion, is being disrespectful of others.
Will this post go through? Somehow I doubt it.
